What qualities are you looking for in your driving instructor?

- Calm
- Patient
- Understanding
- Re-assuring

Alan possesses these qualities. He is easy going with a ready sense of humour, and he is able to get along with young and old alike. His interests include the outdoor life, sport, wine making and, out of necessity, DIY and gardening.

He is a family man with a student son and daughter. This, together with his experience of helping to manage an Attenborough Colts football team from Under 10 through to Under 16, has helped him to have a rapport with young adults, and he is able to put the most nervous learner at ease. He is equally comfortable with older clients, and is happy to adapt the rate of progress to suit the needs of his pupils.

Alan undertook his own training with Instructor Training Specialists Ltd in Ashby-de-la-Zouch. ITS are a very well respected instructor training college and have raised standards in the area through their own high quality training. With their help, Alan was able to pass all three driving instructor qualifying examinations at his first attempt, qualifying finally with above average grades 5 and 4. In order to remain aware of the latest skills and techniques in driver instruction, Alan is a member of the Institute of Professional Driving Instructors, and operates within the ADI Code of Practice (see the links section).
